ABOUT US

Living's Store Front

Everything here at Living is made by hand. Each creative, extraordinary piece is made by a living person. Many of our artists and artisans are local Virginians. We have handmade tables, chairs, beds, dog houses, ceramics, purses, woven goods, soaps, candles, dolls, stuffed animals, baby gifts, jewelry, glass, mirrors, pillows, frames, decoupage items, leather goods, Zen gardens, birthday boards, planters and more. Every week we find new artists to showcase!! Come check us out!

We are always seeking out new talent, so please email us if you know of someone who we can add to our collection.

Martee

Meet Martee! Martee Stephens Johnson is the owner of LIVING. She attended Parson's School of Design in New York and worked for the Manhattan-based design firm, McMillen, Inc. She opened her shop to showcase her appreciation of artisan-designed pieces.
The search for talented, affordable artisans has become a lifelong passion for Martee, a New Orleans native, who has lived in Paris, New York, Charlottesville, Greenwich and now Richmond. "The artisans I find, pour their souls into each piece. True beauty does not come from things being mass produced in factories, it comes from works of art being made by human hands. Owning these one of a kind handmade pieces is true LIVING."

Martee loves chocolate, New Orleans coffee, gumbo, her three children and her husband. (In that order)!

Mallory

Meet Mallory! Originally from Alabama, Mallory moved to Virginia at a young age. She may have lost the southern accent but not her southern charm. Mallory graduated from Radford University with a degree in Speech Communication. She worked in Atlanta for many years as a meeting planner. After moving to Richmond she began working with a local interior design firm. She has been store Manager of Living since its inception in Fall 2009. She has always been a people person...so you will usually find her front and center of the shop.

In her spare time, Mallory enjoys playing tennis, eating sushi and running by the James River with her dog, Bongo.
